.. home projekte theorie art archiv candy guests the hypercone study i came across this while doing research on spirals for a programming course at kassel university. the geometry is quite simple but also the more impressive and elegant. i programmed a self-similar shape consisting of a series of concentric circles that are rotated around two axes in 3d space, the trick is that the axes themselves rotate as well. the result of this process is something between a spiral and a sphere. a further development could include the generation of nurbs curves between the steps to get a beautiful continuous surface... the following images are all the same form with varying parameters!
